Google Search Console: search performance in operational investigations

Opsphere now queries a connected Google Search Console property during an operational investigation. Read-only tools cover performance, queries, pages, trends, device and country breakdowns, URL inspection, and sitemaps. The gsc module stays disabled until that tenant links Google with Connect Google and an operator enables the module. Google Search Console remains the source of those results.

When a call omits the site, Opsphere uses gsc_default_site from Admin. For release and incident work, macro_seo_technical_diagnostic pairs Search Console URL inspection with HTTP and DNS checks. Opsphere is read-only by default.

What changes

A connected Search Console property can now be queried during an investigation. The result is search performance and URL inspection from the Search Console API. Google Search Console remains the source of that data.

How it works

A tenant links Google through the same Connect Google OAuth client used for GA4 and Google Tag Manager. An operator then enables the gsc module for that tenant. Admin can set gsc_default_site as the default property when a call omits the site. Google Search Console supplies the performance and inspection data. Opsphere queries it for the investigation.

  • gsc_performance_overview reads the performance overview.
  • gsc_top_queries and gsc_top_pages read queries and pages.
  • gsc_search_trends reads search trends.
  • gsc_device_country_report breaks results down by device and country.
  • gsc_url_inspection inspects a URL.
  • gsc_sitemaps_list lists sitemaps.

Why it matters

During a release or an incident, a team can read Search Console performance, URL inspection, and sitemaps next to HTTP and DNS checks. Google Search Console remains the source of the search data.

Limits and requirements

Opsphere is read-only by default. Source systems remain authoritative for the underlying operational data.

  • Requires Connect Google OAuth and the gsc module enabled for the tenant.
  • Uses the same Google OAuth platform client as GA4 and Google Tag Manager.
  • The default property is gsc_default_site in Admin when a call omits the site.
  • macro_seo_technical_diagnostic pairs Search Console URL inspection with HTTP and DNS checks.
